There he graduated summa cum laude and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. During this time, he contributed to multiple research papers published in peer-reviewed medical journals, spanning topics from endoscopic practices to inflammatory bowel disease. He is currently a member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and American College of Gastroenterology (ACG).

Dr. Mamunes treats a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver disorders including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), constipation, acid reflux, fatty liver disease, colon cancer screening, celiac disease, and eosinophilic esophagitis. He is skilled in endoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, and video capsule endoscopy.

In his free time, Dr. Mamunes enjoys hiking, music, and spending time with his wife and dog
